Located on the Costa Blanca, Alicante is one of the most popular destinations to visit in Spain. If you have chosen this Spanish city for your next vacation, you are surely looking for a place to stay in Alicante In that case, you are in the right place!

Alicante boasts a rich historical and architectural heritage, as well as beautiful beaches and various tourist attractions that are well worth a visit. In addition to enjoying a pleasant climate throughout the year, the city is also perfect for travelers in search of a vibrant nightlife, parties, bars, and nightclubs! ✨

In this guide, we will discuss accommodation, an essential step and a significant expense when traveling. Together, we will explore the best neighborhoods to stay in Alicante, taking into account the top activities to do, the budget to expect, and all the nearby entertainment.

How to Find a Place to Stay in Alicante?

To choose the best accommodation in Alicante, it is essential to know at least a bit about the city and its main neighborhoods to avoid making any mistakes. Alicante is relatively spread out, but you should focus your search in the more central neighborhoods to fully enjoy the local activities and shopping.

Outside the central areas and the beachfront, few neighborhoods are truly interesting in Alicante. I recommend staying in the city center to maximize your experience of the nightlife, restaurants, and events. Alternatively, the Santa Creu neighborhood, the old town, is also a good option with its authentic and picturesque charm

If you prefer enjoying the seaside, Ensanche Diputación (or Paseo del Puerto Viejo) will be the perfect spot! Finally, tranquility seekers will be delighted by the lifestyle in the San Anton neighborhood, an authentic and local area that offers accommodations at more reasonable prices.

My ❤️ Favorite Hotels to Stay in Alicante!

Estudiotel offers excellent value for money, with comfortable and well-equipped accommodations starting at $76 per night. You will be right in the center of Alicante, close to Postiguet Beach and Santa Barbara Castle.

In the Santa Creu neighborhood, you can stay at the Monges Palace Boutique, a 3-star establishment that offers spacious and comfortable rooms starting at $115 per night.

For budget-friendly options in the San Anton neighborhood, you can stay at the guesthouse Gloria, where accommodations start at $63 per night. It is just a 10-minute walk from downtown and 20 minutes from the beach ️

Where to Stay in Downtown Alicante?

Staying in downtown is an excellent option for those wishing to enjoy the nightlife, shopping, and attractions in Alicante to the fullest. Conveniently, you can easily walk to the old town located to the east and the waterfront a bit further south

Particularly lively and modern, downtown is filled with shops, shopping centers, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and cafes. It's clear that you will lack nothing during your stay, and Alicante's public transport network will allow you to explore other areas such as San Juan.

The wide avenues are lined with neoclassical buildings and magnificent promenades, especially along the Esplanade of Spain and the Promenade de Gomis. Therefore, you will have quick access to Alicante's beaches and marina, both very popular zones.

Regarding accommodation, Alicante's city center offers plenty of options, with a wide range of apartments and hotel rooms. If you have a limited budget, be aware that prices vary greatly, so staying downtown is generally accessible for all types of travelers and budgets

Rambla Alicante Contactless has a central location, just a 5-minute walk from Postiguet Beach. All the rooms have a pleasant and bright decor, and are available starting at $78 per night. You will be welcomed with warmth and friendliness

Estudiotel is a great budget-friendly place to stay in downtown Alicante! For only $76 per night, this establishment offers a beautiful modern room just 600 meters from Postiguet Beach and a 15-minute walk from Santa Barbara Castle. All public transport is located nearby!

Where to Stay in the Old Town of Santa Creu?

Historic, picturesque, and full of charm, the old town is, in my opinion, the best neighborhood to stay in Alicante! It is one of the most visited places in the city, renowned for its architectural beauty, typical atmosphere, and immense historical and cultural heritage that you must not miss

In terms of accommodation, there are numerous options in Santa Creu. It is a very attractive neighborhood for its beauty and charm, which has led to a parallel increase in prices! While you can find a wide range of lodgings such as hotels, hostels, and rental apartments, I highly recommend booking as early as possible, especially if you plan to visit Alicante in summer ☀️

Santa Creu, the oldest neighborhood in Alicante, is known for its beautiful cobbled streets, white houses adorned with flowers, and colorful balconies. If you are looking for a perfect spot for a romantic getaway, I believe the old town will fully satisfy you.

Among the major attractions, I encourage you to discover the Contemporary Art Museum, which offers a beautiful glimpse into Spanish culture through various masterpieces. The Water Museum and Garrigos Well will tell you more about Alicante's maritime history and the role of water in it. If you enjoy religious buildings, the Basilica of Santa Maria, the oldest in the city, is truly remarkable!

For dining, Santa Creu boasts numerous restaurants serving local culinary specialties, as well as bars and cafes with lovely terraces to soak up the sun. If you want to enjoy Alicante's nightlife, you will also be close to the best establishments, well-serviced by public transport.

The Monges Palace Boutique is a perfect address for a romantic stay as it offers beautiful, elegant, and comfortable rooms starting at $115 per night. This guesthouse, housed in a historic building, is just a short walk from the cathedral, the port, and the beach... A bar is available on-site!

The Luces de Catedral offers modern, comfortable, and well-equipped apartments near the restaurants and activities of the center. You will stay in the old town and enjoy a warm and friendly reception from the staff. For a night, expect to pay starting from $105 for a small 15m2 studio.

Where to Stay in Ensanche Diputación?

Although this area is also known as Paseo del Puerto Viejo, the Ensanche Diputación neighborhood encompasses the beaches and marina. It is a neighborhood I highly recommend for travelers who want to fully enjoy the beachfront and the bay of Alicante, a truly exceptional place!

Paseo del Puerto Viejo is located south of downtown and provides ideal access to Alicante's most beautiful beaches such as Playa del Postiguet and Playa de Babel. If you are unsure about what to do in Alicante, you can take a stroll down the Moll de Llevant pier or relax at Parque del Mar to enjoy the sun

There are also museums such as the Museo The Ocean Race, exclusively dedicated to the world of competitive sailing, its history, and all existing equipment. For leisure, many bars, restaurants, cafes, and shops line the waterfront to admire the sunset!

When choosing to stay on the beachfront, prioritize walking or driving to get around. Public transport serves this area poorly. However, if you have a rental car in Alicante, parking is available in one of the many parking lots. In terms of accommodation, Ensanche Diputación is recommended for travelers with a flexible budget, with many high-end hotels available.

The Eurostars Centrum Alicante is a pleasant establishment run by friendly staff. It is just steps away from the port and Paseo del Puerto Viejo. The rooms are spacious and elegant, averaging around $81 per night. Various services are available on-site, including a restaurant, gym, bar, and private parking. It is a beautiful address to remember for staying near the port!

The Hello Alicante Apartamentos offers very nice studios and modern apartments with elegant decor. The establishment has a convenient location between the marina and downtown. You will be welcomed by discreet and attentive staff. Expect to pay starting from $99 per night.

Where to Stay in San Anton, a Quiet Neighborhood Near Downtown?

Located northeast of Santa Creu, the historic center, the San Anton neighborhood caters primarily to travelers seeking a quieter place to stay. It is also an excellent spot if you plan on a week-long vacation or more since you can always enjoy the activities in downtown

The major attraction in San Anton is undoubtedly the Santa Barbara Castle, overlooking Alicante and offering exceptional views of the bay and surroundings. This historic monument is also a memorial site, as it was once a nationalist prison against Republicans during the Spanish Civil War.

Although activities are not as abundant as in other areas, San Anton clearly boasts a peaceful living environment, featuring lovely parks like the Ereta Park as well as hiking trails to explore the surrounding nature and recharge away from the bustle of downtown.

If you want to easily reach downtown, the San Anton neighborhood is very well-served by public transport and has many parking areas where you can leave your car. For accommodation, prices are more reasonable in this part of the city, with hostels that offer good value for money.

The Apartamentos Wayteko is a property that will be perfect for families or groups of friends, as it offers accommodations that can host between 3 and 5 people. Expect to pay starting from $105 per night to stay in San Anton, in a comfortable and tranquil setting while remaining close to downtown.

Gloria has a good location in the San Anton neighborhood while enjoying proximity to downtown Alicante. For just $63 per night, this establishment offers a tastefully decorated 25 m2 studio equipped with a functional kitchen, a double bed, and a private bathroom.

If you plan to visit Alicante in summer, be prepared for very high temperatures. Indeed, the summer season is known for its hot and humid weather.
