Activities to Do in Casablanca

The largest city in Morocco, Casablanca attracts visitors with its unique style that blends traditional charm with remnants of colonialism. There's no need to search long for things to do in Casablanca; you will find numerous activities to fill your stay in Morocco. To fully enjoy the city and not miss any of its must-see sites, I suggest you follow my guide with my 10 best activities to do in Casablanca!

1. Stroll Through the Old Medina

The Old Medina district is a must-visit during your stay in Casablanca. It is undoubtedly the most authentic neighborhood in the city. The old medina was partially destroyed by an earthquake before being surrounded by its ramparts for better protection.

You can walk through its lively alleys while admiring the typical architecture of residential houses in Casablanca. You will also find many shops and even souks to buy your Moroccan souvenirs

Are you heading to Casablanca soon but still don't know what to do in Morocco? Don't worry, it's a destination full of activities! For example, you can visit the Hassan II Mosque, explore the souks in search of the best deals, or enjoy the local cuisine... What's certain is that you won't risk being bored. To make the most of this trip and ensure you don't miss anything, I highly recommend booking your activities in advance

2. Visit the Hassan II Mosque

A visit to the Hassan II Mosque is one of the unmissable experiences when passing through Casablanca. This iconic place of worship open to the public is one of the most beautiful places in the city. With its typical architecture and 200-meter high minaret, it is the largest mosque in Morocco!

Don't miss visiting the interior of the mosque with its traditional decorations and ornaments! For that, I recommend this guided tour of the mosque accessible from €17 per person. You will be taken care of and brought back to your hotel. An knowledgeable guide will enlighten you about the history and significance of this place of worship

3. Discover the Corniche in Casablanca

For a moment of relaxation in Casablanca, head to the Corniche! You can take a walk there while enjoying the view of the sea. It's also the perfect spot to enjoy the beaches and many restaurants in the area. If you're looking for where to go out in the evening in Casablanca, you'll find many bars and clubs in this neighborhood

If you want to tour the city passing through the Corniche, I recommend participating in this guided tour of Casablanca offered for less than €20 per person. This will allow you to visit the main sites of the city like the mosque, Mohammed V Square, and of course the Corniche.

4. What to Do in Casablanca? Discover Mohammed V Square

Mohammed V Square is located in the heart of downtown Casablanca, just steps away from the Old Medina. It's an unmissable visit during your stay.

The square is surrounded by buildings such as the Courthouse and the City Hall, marked by a mix of Art Deco French style and Moorish Hispanic style. A large fountain also sits in the center of the square. Beware, this place is nicknamed the Pigeon Square, so expect to see quite a few birds around

5. Visit the Sacré-Cœur Church

Located not far from the Arab League Park, the Sacré-Cœur Church makes an impression with its white facade and its unique architecture blending Art Deco and Gothic styles. This church, now deconsecrated, no longer serves as a place of worship.

It sometimes hosts cultural events or art exhibitions. You can still access it to visit the interior. The place is open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM.

If you're heading to Casablanca, don't miss visiting other cities in Morocco. It's an opportunity to visit Marrakech for example! For that, you can participate in this excursion to Marrakech including a camel ride for €95 per person. You will visit the main sites of the city such as the market, the mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the medieval medina. Plus, an experienced guide will be able to guide you and inform you about the history of the different monuments

6. Stroll in the Habous District

Among the neighborhoods to visit during your stay in Casablanca, I recommend spending some time in the Habous District, also known as the New Medina.

In addition to its pleasant and lively streets, you will find several monuments such as the Royal Palace or the Mahkama of Pasha (the Courthouse). The district also houses a mosque, less impressive than the Hassan II Mosque, but still worth a detour

7. What to Do in Casablanca? Relax in a Hammam

During a stay in Morocco, discovering the benefits of a traditional Moroccan hammam is a must! This practice is an ancestral tradition known for its relaxing benefits. With a traditional hammam, you will first have access to a hot steam bath followed by a refreshing bath. The temperature difference helps with relaxation, and you will emerge from this experience with a lighter mind

To discover the benefits of this tradition, I recommend this spa and hammam package at a luxurious establishment. For €99, you will be picked up from your hotel. The package includes sauna, a scrub, and a massage.

8. Shopping in Casablanca

If you plan to buy souvenirs from your trip to Morocco or try to find good deals in the markets, Casablanca is the perfect place for you! The city is full of souks and shops where you can buy spices, fruits, clothing, and other artisanal products like traditional Moroccan slippers! The best place for this is the central market, located right in the heart of the old town. You will find a very lively market with colorful stalls

To shop in a somewhat more traditional setting, you can head to the Morocco Mall. This large shopping center is located near the Corniche. You will find over 300 shops and a large number of restaurants. It is also a major entertainment center, featuring a panoramic aquarium, an Adventureland, a 3D cinema, and even an ice rink open year-round!

9. Stroll in the Arab League Park

If you're looking for a green space to walk after the hustle and bustle of downtown, I suggest heading to the Arab League Park. This large public park is located not far from Mohammed V Square and just steps from the Sacré-Cœur Church.

It's the ideal place to stroll with family, featuring playgrounds and sports fields. You'll be impressed in this park with its fountains and the avenues of tall palm trees! You will also find remnants of the old Anfa prison

10. The Clock Tower and the United Nations Square

Another must-stop during your visit to Casablanca is the clock tower. Located at the United Nations Square, the clock tower is a 20-meter-high monument commissioned during the French influence in Morocco. It was almost completely destroyed in 1948 before being rebuilt in 1993. Located right next to it, the United Nations Square is also a very lively spot to see in Casablanca where you can admire the Zevaco dome. To reach the square, you can walk from Mohammed V Square and enjoy numerous buildings in Art Deco style along the way
