Temperatures range from 17 to 31 degrees depending on the time of day and the year, but these are consistently good averages for spending lovely days at the beach, hiking, and visiting the island without suffering from excessive heat ️.

The Mediterranean Sea averages about 27 degrees, and rainfall is rare at the beginning of the month, though it may appear at the end of September! Nonetheless, the weather remains sunny with a more manageable humidity level compared to the peak summer months. If you are looking for summer-like temperatures without the brutal heat and outside of peak season, September is one of the best times to visit Mallorca and explore the island under ideal conditions!

September marks the end of the high tourist season in Mallorca. Even though the island stays lively and vibrant, the summer crowd from July and August finally starts to decrease by mid-September.

Beaches are less crowded, and tourist sites like Palma Cathedral and Bellver Castle are easier to visit. You'll find hotels and accommodations at slightly lower rates. Restaurants and bars are still open and lively, but in a significantly calmer atmosphere!

If you're unsure what to do in Mallorca in September, assume that anything is possible, as summer is still very much present and it's even the best time to visit Mallorca in my opinion. All water sports and activities are still possible, while walks in picturesque villages and hikes are much more pleasant than in the heat of August. However, don't forget to book your excursions in advance, especially at the beginning of the month

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of Mallorca, making it a must-visit. Begin your discovery at Palma Cathedral La Seu: an impressive Gothic masterpiece with a view of the sea. Inside, don't miss the small modernist touches made by Gaudí, the genius from Barcelona, and the magnificent colored stained glass windows. However, you'll need to obtain a ticket for Palma Cathedral, priced at €10.

Next, don't hesitate to stroll through the historic center; discover the Mallorcan patios, and stop at the Almudaina Palace. Check out the markets, visit the shops, there's plenty to do! At the end of the day, enjoy the terraces around Plaça Major for a drink or some tapas. If you love art, I suggest visiting Es Baluard Museum, which has an excellent collection of modern and contemporary art!

Mallorca is, of course, famous for its stunning beaches and coves: the calas ️ September naturally offers perfect conditions: the water is still warm and the beaches are less crowded, allowing for relaxation in great peace! The idea isn't to visit every single beach and cove in Mallorca, as there are many! But if I had to suggest a few must-see spots before you leave, they would be:

Cala Mondragó, which is located in a nature reserve! It's among the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca and is an excellent choice for those seeking a preserved and wild setting.

Cala Llombards and Cala Varques are also known for their turquoise waters and white sand.

If you prefer more accessible beaches with all the services available for a comfortable or family stay, head to Playa de Muro and Alcudia Beach.

For those who love to explore, you can rent a kayak in Mallorca or a paddleboard to discover coves that are inaccessible on foot, as well as marine caves unreachable via a traditional boat Don't forget your mask and snorkel for exploring the underwater world!

Valldemossa is one of the most charming villages in Mallorca. Nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana, it offers a peaceful and authentic atmosphere! Historically, it is famous for having hosted Frédéric Chopin and George Sand during the winter of 1838-1839. You can see the charterhouse monastery of Valldemossa and visit the old monks' cells, the gardens, and learn about the history of these two artists.

Wander through the alleyways to observe the facades with their green shutters; then stop at a café to taste the coca de patata If you feel adventurous, Valldemossa also offers hikes and walks in the mountains. This little stop is a must to discover a more authentic Mallorca at any time of the year, but especially in September when temperatures are no longer so stifling.

Once in Sóller, stroll around Plaça Constitució, and also take the historic tram to the timeless port of Sóller.

If you enjoy hiking, you can walk from Sóller to Fornalutx: one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. The hike takes about 3 hours, and there's even a loop that includes Binibassi, Fornalutx, and Biniaraix before returning to Sóller, spanning roughly 7 kilometers on the GR 221

Sóller and Valldemossa go hand in hand; there's even a tour combining Valldemossa and Sóller for half a day departing from Palma (in case you don't have your own means of transportation). Expect to pay €45 per person.

A boat trip is one of the best ways to discover Mallorca and is undoubtedly a highlight! You might think they're no longer possible in September, but it's quite the opposite.

There are many options: day cruises with snorkeling stops, private boat tours to discover secret coves, or sunset outings on a catamaran with a DJ, and even whale-watching cruises .

Departures are from Palma, Port de Sóller, or Alcudia, depending on your location. This is an unmissable activity to discover another side of Mallorca while keeping cool.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this mountain range offers breathtaking landscapes and trails suitable for all levels if you feel like going for a walk Among the popular hikes is the one leading to Puig de Massanella, the second highest peak on the island, as well as the trail from the Lluc Monastery to Sóller, which features forests, cliffs, and scenic sea views that are highly sought after. You may even encounter wild goats .

The paths are well-marked, allowing you to hike independently without needing a guide.

Cape Formentor is one of the most spectacular places in Mallorca

Situated at the northern end of the island, this cape is famous for its incredible views along gigantic cliffs! You can access it by car and then on foot. There are several viewpoints along the way, such as the Es Colomer viewpoint, which many visit to see the sunset. At the end of the road, the Formentor Lighthouse enhances the area, and you can also descend to Formentor Beach: one of the best beaches in Mallorca ⛱️.

What's unfortunate about walking is that you don't really get to see the full scale of the cliff. That's why it might be even more interesting to take a cruise on the north coast of Mallorca departing from Alcúdia to view Cape Formentor from a new angle On board a catamaran, you can even dive beneath the cliff or explore the marine caves by using the kayaks provided. The Festa des Vermar of Binissalem is THE great grape harvest festival in Mallorca This event celebrates the end of the grape harvests in this renowned wine region. Throughout the festival, you can sample local specialties like frito mallorquín, ensaimadas, and Binissalem wine .

The Festa del Melo takes place each year during the first half of September in the charming village of Vilafranca de Bonany. This festival marks the end of the agricultural season with good humor, featuring contests for the biggest melon! Children also participate in games, and street performances are organized.
