Mauritius in June
Lost in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is a small paradise of just 2040 km²! Its sunny beaches are dreamy, with crystal-clear water on one side and lush nature on the other, all set to the rhythm of the séga. It's no wonder that many people come here to get married or fully enjoy their honeymoon... Its brightly colored towns, mixed culture, friendly locals, and flavorful cuisine are other great reasons to visit Mauritius. Better yet, as a tropical destination, it can be explored all year round. In this post, discover everything that awaits you if you decide to head to Mauritius in June ️
What's the weather like in Mauritius in June?
As I just mentioned, Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate. From May to November, temperatures cool off: it's the southern winter. Overall, it's warm all year round, but the southern winter has less rainy weather.
In June, temperatures range between 68°F and 77°F, with daily sunshine from 6 AM to 11 AM. Rain decreases drastically and falls an average of 4 days in the month. In short, you'll visit the island dry and with fewer mosquitoes
In summary, June is perfect for visiting Mauritius. And when the heatwave hits France, you'll have the chance to parade on the island under pleasantly warm sunshine This is also the ideal climate to enjoy a maximum of activities on the island, whether it's water sports like diving or nature walks. Here's a preview of the best activities to do in June
Tourist Traffic in Mauritius in June
The month of June is not only pleasant in terms of weather. It's also the perfect time to explore the island in peace, without the crowds that usually invade its streets and beaches.
In other words, it's low tourist season, when the influx is lower and prices are cheaper. However, some globe-trotters seek a lively social life. You won't find that aspect in Mauritius in June, especially if you expect to share experiences with other travelers. If that's what you're looking for, I suggest coming at another time of year
What to do in Mauritius in June?
Discovering Port Louis Away from the Crowds
Port Louis is a must-see, whether you're exploring Mauritius in June or at any other month. Its eclectic capital features charming alleys where you'll come across invaluable treasures, reminders of its colonial past. June is an excellent month to discover them in peace, allowing you to fully soak up the ambiance of each place. To that end, here are some highlights not to miss during your visit to Port Louis
Fort Adelaide Citadel is a magnificent stone fortress located at the top of Port Louis Hill. This architectural masterpiece attracts visitors for the spectacular 360° view it offers of the capital.
Port Louis stands out from other Mauritian cities for its many museums. Indeed, these change from the usual experiences on the island. I recommend taking a tour of the Frederik Hendrik Museum to admire some amazing relics from the past. The Aapravasi Ghat Museum is also worth a visit for its historical significance and authentic artifacts.
The cultural diversity of Mauritius is appreciated in Port Louis, especially in its lively neighborhoods. Aside from China Town and its splendid buildings, stop by the City Center. It's the bustling heart of the capital, with palpable activity in places like Place d'Armes and the Umbrella Alley.
Join a private group to explore all these jewels. For €57 per person, many other beautiful places will highlight your visit to Port Louis, including the Caudan waterfront, an enchanting place filled with attractions. Don't miss the Port Louis market, one of the key spots for shopping and a food tour

Enjoying the Beaches of Mauritius in June
Ah, the beaches of Mauritius! These tropical beauties border a sparkling turquoise sea and are sprinkled with abundant greenery, specifically coconut or filaos trees. Here's my selection of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius
No matter which beach you choose or if you visit them all, stay there until sunset if possible, as the sunset show promises to be epic. Plus, you're unlikely to be caught by rain since it falls less frequently in June.
- Flic-en-Flac beach is the main beach of the eponymous village. Here, your sunbathing sessions will take place on pristine soft sand, near coconut trees. Moreover, this usually crowded beach gets less busy in June. But the restaurants and beach bars are available anytime if you want a little entertainment after your sunbathe.
- Belle Mare beach: this kid-friendly beach is one of the wildest on the island, with its filaos forest. However, there are some villas and luxury hotels where you can stay if needed. Additionally, Belle Mare is a great family swimming spot along with a myriad of water activities it offers, from underwater walking to parasailing.
- Trou-aux-Biches: this beach is quite similar to the other two, with coconut trees, turquoise sea, and white sand. It stands out for a few small details, such as its picturesque pier, ice cream vendors, and its proximity to the wreck of Star Hope ⚓️
- Morne beach: the natural setting of this beach will amaze you. Here, there are no villas or hotel complexes, just small bungalows and the imposing Morne Brabant mountain as a stunning backdrop. All you have to do is settle on the sand and contemplate this postcard view.
Hiking Peacefully in Black River Gorges National Park
Stretching over 67 km², Black River Gorges National Park is the largest natural reserve on the island. Nature lovers, this area is your playground with its tropical forest, majestic waterfalls, and beautiful rivers. You probably already have some activities in mind. How about prioritizing hiking to meet the local fauna and flora? The park also serves as a shelter for around 300 varieties of rare plants
On the other hand, your trekking sessions will allow you to observe different species of birds, including 9 endemic ones. Along the way, you'll also encounter small macaques and giant fruit bats. Stay calm, they are harmless. But to hike safely, I recommend this guided hike with a local expert for €55 per person. This thrilling 3-hour adventure includes a dip in the river, a walk in the forest, and discovering the best viewpoints in the park
Marveling at Tamarin Falls
Not far from Black River Gorges National Park are the Tamarin Falls. In total, they consist of 7 more or less vertiginous waterfalls. These coexist with breathtaking greenery and embellish the already extraordinary landscape of the island.
In short, these sites delight nature lovers, walkers, and lovers of beautiful landscapes. To access them, you'll need to do a half-day hike. So, if I were you, I'd bring at least one pair of sneakers in my suitcase for Mauritius in June!
Each waterfall is breathtaking. Although it has a relatively modest height, it offers an exhilarating experience, especially at sunset. At that moment, stand at the foot of the fall and enjoy how the day's light reflects on the water before slowly fading away, it's magical!
Exploring the Seabed of Mauritius Through Diving
The warm and clear sea in June is ideal for diving. This activity will allow you to traverse the island's exceptional seabed and meet its colorful fish. There are plenty of spots for you to indulge in this aquatic pleasure. I recommend, for instance, Blue Bay Marine Park for an exhilarating adventure among parrotfish
However, it's at Tamarin Bay where most diving and snorkeling enthusiasts meet. Here, you'll paddle in the midst of marine life. It's also the perfect spot to swim with dolphins in Mauritius. But what I love about this place is that it's suitable for nearly all water activities, such as swimming, surfing, or kayaking. Some simply lounge on the beach to relax and contemplate the lush greenery surrounding them, not forgetting the sunset over the horizon
In any case, for a diving session and swimming with cetaceans, budget around €60 per person. For this price, the necessary equipment will be provided, along with assistance from an experienced crew and lunch. The icing on the cake: the meal, specifically a delicious barbecue, will be served on the beach.
If you want to take things up a notch, Shark Pit is a spot that attracts adrenaline seekers. However, for your safety, I recommend being accompanied by a local guide.
Astonishing at the Enchanting Colors of Chamarel
Chamarel is famous for being home to the legendary Seven Colored Earth. A true ode to nature, the sand dunes display 7 different colors, just as the name suggests. It is not exactly known when or how they were created. What is certain is that we are looking at a rare and beautiful geological phenomenon!
In the area, you will also find the tortoise park and Chamarel waterfall, a stunning fall of over 100 meters. Explore all these amazing sites for €13 per person away from the masses of visitors who usually swarm them by booking your entry to the Chamarel geopark directly online.
Cruises in Mauritius in June
You cannot travel to Mauritius without taking a cruise on its calm waters. In June or at any other month, many experiences are available to you, depending on the place you dream of exploring ️
- Mauritius is bordered by idyllic islands, including Flat Island, a charming mix of green and turquoise. It's the go-to spot for catamaran enthusiasts. When you're not sailing, treat yourself to some relaxation on its white beaches or in its crystal-clear sea. As a precaution, go there in the afternoon, as in the morning, the current is still a bit strong...
- Cruises to Île aux Cerfs win the hearts of many travelers. Nestled in the turquoise lagoon of Trou d'Eau Douce, this slice of paradise reveals the most beautiful scenery of Mauritius, with its lush nature, gradient colors, and small huts. The day cruise to Île aux Cerfs to admire this postcard view is offered at €70 per person, with barbecue and drinks included.
- Île aux Benitiers, on the other hand, lies off the coast of Morne. If you particularly love dolphin watching, this is the place to be. Along the way, from your cruise, you'll also see the famous Crystal Rock, a small rock adorned with some plants, floating on the sea. An excursion to Île aux Benitiers is available for €60 and includes a snorkeling session as well as a barbecue.
Take a Road Trip on the Famous Tea Route
In June, cyclones are rare. That's why I genuinely think this is the perfect time to explore the nooks and crannies of the island. If you've just done it by boat, it's time to satisfy road trip enthusiasts. Among my favorite routes is the Tea Route, a boon for those who want to learn more about the culture of this beverage we all (or almost all) love
It's a 3-stage itinerary during which you will discover 3 estates.
- The Aubineaux Estate, a beautiful colonial building with a museum and a shop.
- The Bois Chéri Estate, a place that includes a tea factory, a museum, and a tasting chalet.
- The Saint-Aubin Estate, which encompasses the vanilla and rum house. A special mention for its fragrant gardens.
Unmissable Events in Mauritius in June
Dragon Boat Festival
From May 31 to June 2, 2025, you can attend the Dragon Boat Festival, a fun event during which dragon boat races are organized at Caudan, hence the name of this Chinese festival. Yes, this kind of competition is always exciting, but it will also be a great opportunity to admire ornately decorated dragon-shaped boats
For the Chinese community of the island, this celebration is part of tradition. So, enjoy tasting exquisite duck eggs and rice cakes stuffed with zongzi, among other treats.
C Kite Festival
For kitesurfing or adrenaline enthusiasts, attend or participate in the C Kite Festival from June 26 to 30, 2025. This nautical event turns the Mauritian lagoon into the playground for champions of this discipline who put on stunning demonstrations. Besides kitesurfing itself, there will be plenty of other activities available, and this will continue into the evening ♀️
So, seize this opportunity to hit the waves of this part of the western coast of the island, taste its delicious specialties, and enjoy many concerts. In short, 5 days of happiness await you!
Flight Prices to Mauritius in June
Note that the flight from France to Mauritius takes about 11 hours. In terms of price, during the low season, meaning in June, tickets remain cheaper compared to other times of the year ✈️
I just advise you to book in advance to take advantage of the best deals. Another key tip: visit Ulysse, a flight comparison site that offers tickets starting at €930.
Car Rental Prices in Mauritius in June
Transportation options abound in Mauritius in June. If you want to dive into the local feeling, nothing beats hopping on the island's colorful buses. The fare is between €0.50 and €1.
However, to avoid wasting time on the road and also to enjoy more comfort, I suggest renting a car. It's both practical and affordable, with daily rates starting at €29. To find a suitable vehicle model for your needs, you can check specialized sites like DiscoverCars. In any case, if you take your own vehicle, I advise you to familiarize yourself with the driving rules on the island, as in Mauritius, we drive on the right! You can always take a taxi to avoid hassle, but be careful as ride prices can sometimes be high...
Staying in Mauritius in June: Cost and Accommodation Options
As with transportation, options are plentiful in Mauritius, no matter the time of your trip. Their prices fluctuate depending on the type of accommodation. Here's a little snippet so you can get an idea of where to stay in Mauritius
There you have it, you have all the information needed for a successful stay in Mauritius in June ☀️ Pleasant is the least we can say about this adventure, with ideal weather, warm and calm seas, few tourists, and a wealth of exciting activities. And if you still don't know when to go to Mauritius, I also have a post for visiting Mauritius in September
- Located near the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, the Residence Peramal is a charming apartment hotel where nightly rates start from €76 in June. You'll also be close to the beach if you book a few nights at the establishment. Included in the price: access to comfortable and air-conditioned rooms, a lush garden, a balcony with ocean view, barbecue facilities, and secure parking.
- For those who prefer hotel services, consider staying at the Mauricia Beachcomber Resort & Spa, a 4-star hotel situated right on the beach. In fact, it's a huge complex with 3 relaxing pools, 2 restaurants, 3 tennis courts, a bar, and all sorts of amenities to ensure your comfort, including upscale rooms and a spa. As for price, nightly rates are around €300 in June.
- In Port Louis, I recommend the Stella Marris beachfront villa. The establishment offers accommodations with sea views, a terrace, and a fully equipped kitchen. It's the ideal lodging for groups, family, or friends, with villas with 3 bedrooms accommodating up to 6 people. In June, expect to pay around €144 for a night.
