It's decided, you've chosen New York as your destination in the United States? Now you just need to define the best month to visit the metropolis, knowing that New York in April is an ideal time!

In this post, I'll provide a quick overview to discover the best activities available in New York during spring! To help you prepare for your stay, I will also discuss the weather and events planned in New York for the month of April!

What's the Weather Like in New York in April?

In April in New York, the weather can be quite variable as winter fades away and temperatures begin to warm up, but cool days can still occur!

Temperatures generally range between 50 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit, though higher peaks can occur on particularly sunny days! Nights are relatively cool, with temperatures dropping to around 41 degrees and even lower in some cases, along with spring showers.

Of course, I assure you that sunny and pleasant days are not rare either. When they occur, they are perfect for enjoying parks and outdoor activities while exploring New York! Nevertheless, I advise you to bring some warm clothing to prepare for temperature variations.

Save Money with a New York Pass! ️

Whether it's your first trip to New York or not, the best way to save on your sightseeing costs is to opt for a New York Pass! I recommend the New York Explorer Pass, which I believe is the most flexible option. For $77, this digital pass allows you to visit between 2 and 10 activities of your choice among the most iconic sites in the city. Don't wait any longer and book your pass now to save time and money during your stay in the Big Apple!

Good Reasons to Visit New York in April!

Even though the weather isn't as amazing as New York in May, April remains one of the best times to explore the Big Apple. First, you will save significantly on airfare, accommodations will be cheaper, and tourist crowds will be lower.

Visiting New York in April has many advantages, starting with the blooming flowers that enhance the parks and botanical gardens of the city. If you visit Central Park, you can enjoy the lush greenery and blooming trees, as well as vibrant tulip beds!

Another thing to know is that April marks the beginning of the tourist season in New York. This means that iconic attractions like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and Times Square will be much less crowded compared to the summer season, which is a significant advantage you will have!

Besides the must-see monuments, traveling to New York in April also promises to discover numerous cultural and artistic events. Museums, art galleries, and theaters often showcase special exhibitions and performances during this month. For instance, the Tartan Day Parade is a celebration that honors Scottish culture each year with a parade and activities.

What to Do in New York in April? The Must-Sees!

Visit the Statue of Liberty

Among the must-do activities in New York in April, the Statue of Liberty is an iconic symbol that deserves to be seen at least once in a lifetime. For a complete experience, I suggest booking a guided tour to go inside the statue and learn about its history.

Before that, it's best to take a cruise around Liberty Island to admire the statue from different angles and, of course, get a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline! Don't forget to explore the immigration museum on Ellis Island to learn more about the history of immigrants.

Ascend to the Top of the Empire State Building

Iconic, the Empire State Building offers an unparalleled panoramic view of New York! This world-famous skyscraper stands at no less than 1,250 feet tall and has 102 floors. After taking the time to admire the building from the outside, I recommend entering and taking the elevator...

Indeed, by going to the top of this skyscraper, on the 102nd floor, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Manhattan and the surrounding areas. Whether during the day with a clear view or at night when New York lights up, going to the top of the Empire State Building is among the best activities to do!

If the history of the skyscraper intrigues you, you can visit the Empire State Building Museum.

Times Square and Its Billboards

Once night falls, nothing beats a lively stroll around Times Square, one of the most bustling and iconic places in New York. Among the things to do, take a walk through this bright neighborhood to admire the crowds, advertisements, and the particularly electric atmosphere!

You'll find here a multitude of shops, restaurants, theaters, and outdoor entertainment. Don't miss the chance to visit one of the many Broadway theaters to see a musical or play. Numerous kiosks nearby sell last-minute show tickets. If you're on a budget, these tickets are available at a ridiculously low price!

Stroll and Walk in Central Park

Depending on the forecast for New York in April, I suggest spending some time in Central Park for a peaceful escape from the city hustle. There, you can walk, bike, boat on the lake, or simply relax on the grass and read!

Besides being world-renowned for its beauty and size, Central Park features many winding paths, picturesque fountains, and numerous sites such as the famous Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace with its must-see fountain, Central Park Zoo, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, a performance hall, as well as the Strawberry Fields memorial honoring John Lennon.

One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial

Although this activity may not be particularly fun or entertaining, you can pay homage to the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks by visiting the memorial.

You can explore the site, including the memorial pools as well as the museum that showcases touching exhibits about these tragic events, a marker that transformed American history.

Then, I suggest visiting the One World Trade Center, which is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere and a true icon of the New York skyline. To get an amazing view of the Big Apple, ascend to the observation deck at the top for a spectacular panorama.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York

If I had to recommend one museum to see, it would definitely be the Museum of Modern Art. It's an excellent idea for a day out when it rains in New York, not to mention that this museum is a must-see.

The MoMA houses one of the most important collections of modern and contemporary art in the world. This collection features works from great artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Andy Warhol, and many other illustrious artists. During your visit, explore the galleries to discover paintings, films, as well as sculptures and photographs in addition to many other interactive installations.

From a walking perspective in New York, there's another place that must be on your agenda. Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge is an experience to have, as this monument is distinctly iconic!

To cross the Brooklyn Bridge, there aren't many options. Naturally, I suggest walking or biking across the monument for a much more immersive experience.

Definitely, stop at the viewing point to capture your best photos! But if you want to reach Manhattan from Brooklyn, do like in the movies and take a yellow cab!

Of course, take the opportunity to explore Brooklyn, one of the best places to stay in New York. It's a place I particularly enjoy for its bohemian and creative atmosphere, home to many restaurants, art galleries, and a unique artistic vibe.
